Tips for Setting up Your Facebook Page for Your Target Audience

Setting up a new Facebook page for your business is easy, and you can begin the process by visiting here, but before you begin you should consider the following tips. By taking a bit more time and putting a little more effort into the set-up process, you’ll see better results.

1. Know Your Target Audience.

If your business has been in operation for a while, then this may be an easy task. If you’re starting a new business, then you’ll need to think about what types of individuals are likely to be your best customers. How old is your ideal customer? Are they male or female? Do they have children? What’s their occupation? These types of questions will help you decide upon a tone for your page.

2. Choose the Best Name for Your New Page.

One important element of your new Facebook page is going to be its name. In most cases, you’ll want to try to choose a name that’s the same as your business’ operating name. Ideally, this would mirror the URL for your business website, to make it easier for potential customers to remember how to reach you.

Of course, it’s quite possible that your ideal page name is already being used by someone else. If that’s the case, then come up with a new name that’s easy to remember, reflects your business, and isn’t going to confuse any potential customers.

3. Choose the Appropriate Category.

When you sign up for a new page, Facebook will ask you to choose a category that best describes the entity you’re creating the page for. The top-level categories for pages currently consist of:

• Brand or Product
• Artist, Band or Public Figure
• Entertainment
• Cause or Community

Each of these has potentially dozens of subcategories to help Facebook properly classify your page (along with a name).

4. Choose the Best Cover Photo for Your New Page.

Facebook is a highly visual website, as evidenced by the fact that pictures and videos that are posted by users generally draw the most discussion and interaction. This should be taken into account when you choose the cover photo or image for your new business page. Again, this is going to vary depending on your business.

Make sure the photo is appropriately sized (851 x 315 pixels), as well as compelling and widely appealing. Make sure the photo is clean, and don’t attempt to make any sales pitches or promotions within the cover image itself.

5. Have a Plan for Your Posts.

You don’t have to have all of your content written in advance, but it would be a good idea to have a plan for the types of things you’re going to write about. Look to your business or promotional plan for post ideas that you can use to increase sales of or buzz around your products.

6. Prepare High Quality Posts.

Don’t keep all your good content on your business website. By occasionally posting original high quality content to your Facebook page you’ll create a page that new visitors will recognize as being valuable to them.

7. Promote Your Page.

Your new page might start to get some traffic without you having to promote it at all. But in order to make your page a success – something that measurably boosts your business – you’re going to have to promote it.
