Are You One of The Crazy Ones?
“Here’s to the Crazy Ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world – are the ones who do.”
– Steve Jobs, former CEO of Apple Inc, February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011
I love the speech this is an excerpt from. It never fails to motivate me or help me believe that you can follow your own path. Even if you are still trying to work out what that path is. Don’t stop searching.
That doesn’t mean that you should be dissatisfied with where you are and what you have now. Always be grateful for what you have.
That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be happy where you are now. If you can’t be happy now I question whether you can be happy at all without a change of mindset. Happiness can only come from within.
When I am talking about seeking your path, I am talking about how are you going to make the world a better place. What is your purpose? How are you going to bring value to others? How are you going to serve others? How are you going to make a difference to other people’s lives?
Sometimes it isn’t easy to know what your purpose is, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start by making a difference one person at a time. Make someone smile when they don’t feel like smiling. Show someone an act of kindness when they aren’t expecting it.
Now watch the full speech and I challenge you to march to the beat of your own drum:
How are you going to make a difference? Are you one of the Crazy Ones?
