Studies have shown that those of us who “multitask” actually get less done. Having your email program open along with several other windows on your computer is very distracting and will take away from your ability to focus on the task at hand. I used to be very guilty of this but am forming the new habit of closing all my windows except for those I need to complete what I am doing.[social_quote duplicate=”yes” align=”default”]”Studies have shown that those of us who multitask actually get less done. Try to do one thing at a time. If you are checking your email, stay focused on that until you finish. If you are doing your accounts, give yourself a set amount of time to only work on that task before moving on to something else. If you find that you struggle to stay focused on one task for very long, then simply give yourself a set amount of time to work on that one task. I like to use the Focus Booster app. I set it up for 25 minute work periods followed by 5 minute breaks. During the 25 minutes of work I focus on one task and do not allow myself any distractions until the 25 minutes is complete. It helps me focus and concentrate, improving my productivity.
Staying focused on one task at a time really does make all the difference to your productivity levels. Try it.
